Davis announces candidacy

After much thought and prayer I, Sam Davis, am announcing my candidacy for Clerk of the Circuit Court of Buckingham County in the upcoming special election to be held on Nov. 6, to fill the unexpired term of the Honorable Malcolm A. Booker Jr.

I am a 43 year resident of Buckingham County. I am the oldest son of Mike Davis and the late Martha Davis of Arvonia. I have served the citizens of Buckingham for over 28 years, as a member of the Arvonia Volunteer Fire Department, (currently an inactive lifetime member), and the Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad where I served in various leadership positions at both the unit and county wide level. I am a father of six, two from my first marriage, my first wife the late Laura Snoddy Davis passed away in 2010. I am currently married to the former Christy Palmore of Buckingham and we have 4 children that we have adopted. My wife and I are deeply involved with the Buckingham Department of Social Services as active foster parents. My family and I are members of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dillwyn.

I am currently an employee of the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office with over 15 years of service. I am in charge of communications and manage a staff of 12. I deal daily with warrants, protective orders, capias and other legal documents. Recently I completed training on FOIA, (Freedom of Information Act) through the Commonwealth Regional Council. I am certified as a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services General Instructor and a Virginia State Police Certified VCIN (Virginia Criminal Information Network) Instructor.

If elected to serve as the next Circuit Court Clerk of Buckingham County, I will strive to run an office that is professional, respectful and open to all.
