Edith Kilian Hopkins

Edith Kilian HopkinsEdith Kilian Hopkins, 94 of New Canton, passed peacefully on May 11. She was born Aug. 31, 1929 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late Frank and Edith Kilian. 

Edith loved life and made the most of it during her 94 years. She was extremely creative and spent hours reading and writing stories of her own; she enjoyed telling stories of her childhood and spending time at the seashore. 

Edith was a member of Arvonia Church. 

She adored the family dog, Belle. Edith treasured her grandchildren and their families but she particularly cherished her own children, Grant and Gail. 

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Hopkins and brother, Frank Kilian. 

Edith is survived by her children, Grant Givens (Phyllis) and Gail Christian (Randy); grandchildren, Kelly Street (David), Cindy Ragland (Jonathan), David Givens (Joy) and Sarah Givens and great-grandchildren, Nathan Shippee, Logan Ragland, Jacob Shippee, Faith Shippee, Trenton Ragland, Joshua Givens, Samuel Givens, Grace Givens and Rose Givens. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 3 p.m., at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Arvonia Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.
