Cumberland, Dillwyn Christmas parades canceled

Both the Cumberland and Dillwyn Christmas parades, originally set for Sunday afternoon, have been canceled due to Sunday’s weather forecast featuring rain.

Dillwyn Mayor Linda Venable Paige confirmed the news for Dillwyn’s event Saturday morning, emphasizing that it was not a postponement but, indeed, a cancellation.

Shortly after that, Cumberland Christmas Parade organizer Barbara Gamage and Cumberland County Board of Supervisors Chairman Kevin Ingle confirmed the Cumberland event would be canceled as well.

“I am very disappointed, but we can’t control the weather,” Gamage said. “I think we will not try to reschedule this year.”
