FFA senior spotlight
The Buckingham FFA Senior Chapter would like to recognize Stephen Davis for his success in the Buckingham FFA. A member of the Class of 2020, Stephen served as the 2019-2020 chapter president. He became a member of the group in August 2018.
Throughout his FFA career, Davis participated in several contests: agricultural mechanics, forestry field day, cattle working and forestry.
Every FFA member is required to have supervised agricultural experience. Davis worked on Allen Wood Farm where he tended to the cattle, goats and hogs. He was responsible for hay production, maintaining fences, and herd health. He also showed a Simmental heifer for the Fluvanna 4-H. Davis also attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis where in 2019 he accepted the chapter’s Two Star National Chapter Award.
Davis personally received the 2020 Deklab Leadership Award for the Buckingham Chapter. Davis said that his favorite FFA memory was at the 2018 National FFA Convention where he saw Garth Brooks in concert. He said that FFA is “an educational club that allows you to be hands-on and interactive in the agricultural field.”
Davis is a proud member of the Arvonia Fire Department, which in turn has led him to pursue a career as a professional firefighter. He will attend basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he will specialize in ammunition and stock control.
Davis is the son of Chris and Kathryn Davis and brother to Elly of Arvonia.
