Reuben Thomas Perkins, 79, of Buckingham passed peacefully at his home on June 4, 2020. Reuben was born in Buckingham County on September 28, 1940, a son of the late Pete and Anna Perkins. He was a truck driver for Kyanite Mining Corporation and Buffalo Wood Products. Reuben joined the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department in 1962 and was an active member for 40 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ranson Perkins; son, David Perkins and his wife, Lynn; daughter Janet P. Gilbert; three grandchildren, Chad Perkins and his wife, Peyton; Ryan Perkins and his wife, Bailey and Hannah Gilbert; two great-grandchildren Penelope Perkins and Perry Perkins; sister-in-law, Shelley Perkins; nephew, Chris Perkins; niece, Laura Perkins and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Perkins.
A graveside service was held on June 6, 2020 in the Buckingham Community Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.
