Last week the Town of Farmville announced that due to unforeseen circumstances, the swimming pool at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course will not be open for the 2020 season.
Farmville Town Manager Dr. Scott Davis said there are several issues with the pool that could cost as much as $30,000 to fix in order to open the pool.
According to Davis, in previous years the town has spent more than $100,000 to fix issues with the pool, and it was decided during a March work session of the council not to spend more funds on the pool and to look at future alternatives.
Davis did not say what those alternatives may be but did say, “We planned to refer those that want to have pool access to the Fuqua School pool, which accepts members and non-members to use their pool,” Davis said. “However, the COVID-19 situation has delayed many places opening pools.”
