On the farm, I take daily walks.

One of my favorite walking paths winds down into the woods, down a valley with a small stream and then ascends up from the darker canopy of trees to the light of an open pasture. This quiet walk provides some of the best opportunities to enjoy the little things along the way that are often overlooked. After the dormant winter months, I am now enjoying the ever -changing landscape of redbud trees, then dogwoods and all sorts and kinds of plants and animals bursting to life this spring.

This path reminds me of Proverbs 4:18- 19 “But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.”

Our righteousness that comes from the forgiveness of our sins, places us on a path towards a glorious day. This glorious day is ushered in through our physical death. What a contrast this is to the path of the wicked. Darkness and stumbling characterize the way of the wicked. I have been there and am ever grateful for the kindness of the Lord to rescue me out of darkness and into His marvelous path of light.

I believe God calls the life of the believer a path, because He wants us not only to look forward to our eternal destination, but to enjoy the journey. Gods wants us to walk through the dormant winter landscape, to have seasons of solitude and reflection. Proverbs 4 describes our life becoming brighter as we age instead of darker.

We may be growing older and more feeble outwardly, but inwardly we are renewed day by day as we see the end drawing still nearer. I also believe God is using this COVID-19 season to wake us up to the changing world and bring to clear focus which path you are on.

As I walk along this path that keeps getting brighter, I hope to meet many of you along the way. If you are currently on the dark path, stumbling along the way, you are only a prayer of faith away from the same Savior that rescued me, Jesus Christ. Call out to God and repent of your sins, you will never be the same, And you will be on a different path.
