DILLWYN, June 13 – Earl Junior Brown passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond. He was born April 2, 1930 in Cumberland County, a son of the late Kenny and Almore Trent Brown. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church and attended Cumberland County Schools.
Mr. Brown was employed by Shelton's Lumber Company of Tappahannock and Palmore's Lumber Company of Powhatan where he was employed for over 55 years, retiring March 2005.
He was a caring and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had a positive attitude, and was always “on the go.” He will be greatly missed by his family, community and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Earl Brown “Plum”, Kenny Brown “Slick”, James Johnson and Phyllis Winn (Henry); ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell and Carl Brown; three sisters-in-law, Alma, Doris and Comoria Brown; two nephews, ten nieces and a number of great nephews and nieces; an aunt, Ginny Trent; cousins, other relatives and friends; and a devoted friend, Annie Mae Brooks and her children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six siblings, John, Lonnie, Fancy, Eddie, Ora and Hattie.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 14 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Cumberland, with the Rev. Larry Smith, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
