Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Cumberland County that resulted in the death of a 21-year old man.
According to VSP Trooper Gavin Lee, two hunters were driving on a gravel section of Oak Hill Road in Cumberland just after 5 a.m. Monday, May 11, when they came upon the scene of a single-vehicle crash.
The Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department, Cumberland Sheriff’s Department and VSP arrived on scene to find a 1990 Chevrolet 3500 with a work body had overturned. The driver of the truck, Chase Cadd, was deceased.
Lee said Cadd had struck a tree and overturned his vehicle. It is unclear how many hours had passed between the crash and the discovery of the accident.
Lee said VSP believed no foul play was involved and that speeding may have been a factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
