JUNE 4 – Anna Laura Smith, 86, of Farmville, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 2, 2013. She was the wife of Henry H. Smith. She was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky on June 7, 1926 to the late Hallie Melton Conley and Eather A. Conley.

Mrs. Smith was baptized at Dawson Springs Baptist Church in Kentucky and served in several congregations over her lifetime, most recently Maranatha Baptist, and Memorial Baptist in Arlington. Much of her life she worked at hospitals and nursing homes as a nurse's aide. She was an avid reader, enjoyed square dancing and liked to travel.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Henry H. Smith; sons, William H. Smith (Judy) of Charlottesville and Andre M. Smith (Pam) of Farmville; grandchildren, Jason W. Smith of Seattle, WA, Luke B. Smith of Staunton, Justin B. Smith (Mairin) of Charlottesville, Charles Jeremy Smith (Chrissy) of Spartanburg SC, Carter M. Smith of Roanoke, and Katie C. Smith of Farmville; and great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Grant Smith of Charlottesville. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar Lee Conley and W.R. Conley, both of Kentucky.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 7 at Puckett Funeral Home from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8 at Maranatha Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery, Montvale.
