LCVA Summer Art Studio Opens June 3

The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts invites children and their families to explore and create beautiful art inspired by famous children's literature. Open weekdays from June 3 through August 2, the Summer Art Studio program is bringing popular children's books to life with Literally Art! The program features kid-friendly art activities for children of all ages. Families are welcome to stop in weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; children must be accompanied by an adult.
This year's program dates and themes are:
June 3 – June 14 – “Far, Far Away!” Click your heels and fly away- from Oz to Wonderland we will travel to far off fantasy lands created by some of the most famous children authors;
June 17 – June 28 – “Once Upon A Time!” Once upon a time in a museum in Farmville… Join us to explore the timeless fairy tales created by the Grimm brothers and Hans Christian Anderson;
July 1 – July 12 – “The New Classics!” From Dr. Suess to Eric Carle and all the way to Roald Dahl. Come explore the wonderful illustrations and art making techniques of the new classics in children's literature;
July 15 – July 26 – “It's a Jungle Out There!” Tie-Dye Week; Lions and tigers and bears- Oh my! This is sure to be a fun time recreating some of the most iconic animals from children's literature;
July 29 – August 2 – “Adventure Time!” Pack your bags and raise the sails it is time to go on an adventure. We will travel 20,000 leagues under the sea or journey to the center of the earth? The adventure is up to you!
With the exception of tie-dye activities, all materials are supplied. The drop-in program is free and open to the public; no registration is required.
