A cross adorned with flowers stands on the walkway leading up to the front door of Johns Memorial Episcopal Church in Farmville on Easter Sunday, April 12. On the door is a sign indicating all worship services at the church have been canceled until June 10 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of social distancing measures being taken, Christians in the area did not gather in the same manner to which they have been accustomed for centuries, but they still found ways to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the purpose of Easter.
