Buckingham calls special COVID-19 meeting

A special meeting of the Buckingham County Board of Supervisors (BOS) has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, to begin at 10 a.m.
The meeting will be available virtually via live stream on YouTube at https://youtu.be/sVpJ6BFKek0.

The purpose of the meeting, according to a release on the county’s website, is to discuss, consider and take action, if appropriate, on an ordinance, providing a method to assure continuity in county government during the coronavirus pandemic.
Other subject matter includes consideration and possible action on the “Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act H.R. 6201 Sec. 5101 et al. and Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act H.R. 6201 Sec. 3101 et al. and any adjustment to current personnel policy that might be required.”
The board will also discuss and, if appropriate, take action on a policy pertaining to difficulties in
assembling in one location a quorum for public bodies, including the BOS, school board, planning commission, board of zoning appeals, board of equalization and all local and regional boards, commissions, committees and authorities created by the BOS due to the pandemic.
The notice includes an agenda item consisting of “discussion concerning a prospective business or industry or the expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business’ or industry’s interest in locating or expanding its facilities in the community.
The release notes that the only items that may be considered at the meeting are these announced matters unless all board members are present and all members agree to consider other matters.
