Central Virginia Christian School (CVCS) held its annual spelling bees Feb. 13.
Students were selected to represent each class. Placing first in the elementary bee was Austin Wharam with runner-up Rachel Hicks. The middle school champion was Emma Ranson with Tyler Holland in second place.
Central Virginia Christian Schools welcomes you to be a Charger for a Day. Come out on Friday, March 13, to shadow a current student through the day and see if CVCS might be your future school family. The school is located at 164 Industrial Park Road in Dillwyn.
The Curdsville Community Center will hold its March meeting Monday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. A program on veterans’ benefits will be presented by Sarah Dunn. Everyone is welcome. Bring a covered dish for the pot luck dinner. The community center is located just off Rt. 15 at State Road 633.
Buckingham Preschool is holding registration Friday, March 13, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and 4 – 6 p.m.; and on Friday, March 20, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Applicants must reside in Buckingham County and be 4 years old by Sept. 30. The child must be present during registration. Bring the following to registration: birth certificate; two proofs of residency (i.e.: utility bill, driver’s license, etc.) with matching addresses which must be a physical address; legal guardianship paperwork (if applicable); proof of income (W2 or IRS form 1040); physical examination report which must be dated within 12 months of the first day of school; and immunization records which must be up to date.
Exercise with Kickboxing on Tuesdays at Beulah Wiley Fitness Center at Central Virginia Health Services in New Canton. Kick it with them at 6 p.m. The center is located at 25892 N. James Madison Highway in New Canton.
Buckingham County High School is hosting College Night Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 6 p.m. with free pizza. This event is for current 10th and 11th graders and their parents/guardians to learn about the college process including choosing, getting into and paying for college.
Agribusiness Essentials Workshop: Start-Up, Set-Up, and Succession will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (lunch provided). The workshop will be held at the B.A.R.N. facility in Buckingham. Register by calling Rochelle Clabough at (434) 969- 4261.
Piedmont Habitat for Humanity will host a Women’s Build Event March 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Doreen Jones’ Home, located at 113 Culbreth Street in Dillwyn. Lunch will be provided. This event is sponsored by Lowe’s.
