Prince Edward County Public Schools (PECPS) will be closed Friday, Feb. 7, following what Director of Piedmont Health District Dr. H. Robert Nash has referred to as a “second wave” of flu season in the area. 

PECPS Family and Community Engagement Liaison Jenn Kinne said that the decision was made after a weekly meeting held with the health department at 10 a.m. this morning. 

Kinne said that this additional measure of closing is being taken to allow custodial staff time to do another deep cleaning of the entire campus. 

“We assure our families that we are taking every necessary precaution to ensure that our campus remains clean and safe. We encourage families not to send sick children to school,” she said.
