Route 45 N., Cartersville Road, at the bridge on the James River entering into Goochland County will be closed for maintenance beginning Wednesday, Jan. 29.

According to Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Ashland Residency Administrator Marshall Winn, railroad company CSX has scheduled maintenance on the train tracks passing over the road near the bridge. Maintenance will begin at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and is expected to be finished by Friday, Jan. 31.

A detour has been proposed running from Route 45 N to Route 690 on Columbia Road, to Route 6, River Road West, in Goochland County. Winn said message boards will be posted instructing motorists on the detour.
