PRINCE EDWARD – C.R. (Bob) Timmons, Jr. has announced he will run for the Buffalo District on the County's Board of Supervisors.

He is seeking the seat as an independent candidate.

“…I've prayed about this for about a year and sought other counsel and finally decided that I would put my name in the hat and run,” Timmons said. “I have strong Christian values and I'm a conservative by nature.”

He offers that his core personal values are honesty and integrity and “I don't know how to deal with people that are not…”

Among the areas Timmons cited in his print material that he is running is because of what he describes as continued wasteful spending, mounting county debt, and the lack of a common sense business approach in managing the challenges and opportunities of the county.

Timmons offers that he will seek citizen input on issues that come before the board, stop wasteful spending, develop and implement a plan to reduce County debt, support fire departments, public library and public schools, maintain the public services, develop a positive working relationship with the Town of Farmville, and bring a common sense approach to the business of running the County.

Timmons has been married for 46 years to his wife Linda. The couple purchased property here in 2007 and moved here and built their home in the Darlington Heights area in 2009.

Timmons, originally from north Florida, graduated from junior college. He started in the construction business, working up from a site engineer, through superintendent, project manager, area superintendent and regional manager, he cited. He left as a senior manager and joined a consulting firm as a partner where they specialized in litigation support for construction related issues.

Timmons was a claims expert and testifying expert for about eight years as a partner, then started his own firm, which he ran for about three years and retired.

His work experiences have taken him through much of the southeast of the Mississippi, with his final stop in Charlotte before coming to Prince Edward. Timmons ran a regional office in Chester for eight years and his children settled in that area.

“…We just sort of liked the area,” Timmons said. “We've always liked this area.”

He is seeking the seat that is currently held by Board of Supervisors Chairman William “Buckie” Fore. Chairman Fore has announced that he will not seek re-election. Timmons has qualified to be placed on the November ballot.

He plans on meeting as many active voters as he can between now and the election.
