NOVEMBER 16

HUNTERS LUNCH, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Ca Ira Road, Buckingham. Eat at the church or take with you. A free will offering will be taken to help families in need.

SOUP AND BEAN KITCHEN, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Route 60, Cumberland. Dine in or take out. Come out and support. Sponsored by the Pastor’s Aid.

PRE-MEN’ DAY SERVICE, 3 p.m. at  Midway Baptist Church to usher in the spirit for the annual Men’s Day service. This year’s theme is “Recreating & Repairing the Soul of Man” with the scripture reference Jeremiah 18:1-4. The Heavenly Gospel Singers of Cullen will be in concert. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor.

NOVEMBER 17

GUEST SPEAKER, 9 a.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Route 60, Cumberland, will be Calvin Foster. Come out and support our Sunday school and youth ministry.

PASTOR’S FOURTH ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. for the Rev. Tanya Richardson at First Liberty Baptist Church. Guest speaker will be Elder Ruben Lewis, Jr, senior pastor at Galilee Baptist Church, Louisa. Dinner will be served.

SENIOR CITIZENS APPRECIATION DAY, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Dillwyn. The Rev. Earl Pendleton from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Charlottesville and the Slate River Baptist Church choir and ushers will be the guests. We will be honoring all senior citizens and the organizations that serve them on that day. A Thanksgiving dinner will be served afterward. Hope to see you there.

MEN’S DAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church. Guest minister will be the Rev. Cetric Gayles, Pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland along with his male chorus. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor.

146TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church. Guest will be the Rev. James Pryor from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church along with his choir and congregation. All are welcome.

NAACP TO MEET, 6 p.m. at the Scope Building, Griffin Boulevard, hosted by the Prince Edward Branch. All are welcome.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD EVENT, 10 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 700 Milnwood Road, Farmville. Hear testimony by shoebox recipient Elena Nicholson.

NOVEMBER 20

ADVENT LUNCHEON, noon-1 p.m. at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church, 1 Stoney Point Road, Cumberland.

JOINT OPEN HOUSE 4-7 p.m. of the Virginia Food Works (VFW) and the Prince Edward County (PEC) Cannery at the cannery, 7916 Abilene Road in Farmville. This event is free and open to the public. VFW and PEC staff will be on hand to talk about using the cannery for making food for home use and for commercial retail sale.

POLITICAL COLUMNIST AT LONGWOOD, 7 p.m. featuring Richmond Times-Dispatch political columnist Jeff Schapiro for a public lecture with Q&A in the Soza Ballroom of the Upchurch University Center. His talk, the first installment in the 2019-20 President’s Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

NOVEMBER 21

SMALL RUMINANTS WORKSHOP, 9 a.m.-noon at the Prince Edward Extension Conference Room, 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville. Topics to include: Marketing Overview; Farmer’s Market Demonstration; Producer’s Point of View – Meat Goats, Value-Added Product. COFFEE WITH THE CHIEF, 2-4 p.m. at Barnes and Noble Café, 200 North Main Street. This event will be an opprotunity to meet with Chief Ellington and Farmville Police Officers to discuss topics of interest to you. This will be an informal gathering in a relaxed setting.

PRE-THANKSGIVING SERVICE, 7 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. This year’s theme is “Gratitude” with scripture reference from Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV). MOAA MONTHLY LUNCHEON, 1 p.m. at Riverside Café, 522 N. Main St., Farmville. All active, former and retired military officers and spouses/widows are welcome to attend. Speaker will be Dr. Michael Lund, Professor Emeritus of English at Longwood University, a published author and Director of Home and Abroad. We will also conduct the annual meeting this month.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1301 Milnwood Road.

FAMILY FUN ICE SKATING, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. sponsored by the Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce in the parking lot next to Riverside park. Children skate free.

MEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Men’s Ministry of Dillwyn. This year’s theme will be “Men in Suits.” The Faith Redeemers Men’s Chorus, the St. Joy Baptist Church and other men’s chorus groups will be in concert. Come out and be blessed.

USHER’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church, 615 Franklin St., in Farmville. The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the Sharon Baptist Church, will be the guest preacher accompanied by his choir and ushers. All ushers are welcome.

FALL RALLY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Special guests will be the Rev. Marquise Carlisle, Associate Pastor of the Pilgrim Baptist Church with musical guests God’s Chosen Ones. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.

THANKSGIVING DINNER, 5 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church located at 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn, followed by a Thanksgiving program. All are welcome.

PRE-THANKSGIVING SERVICE, 6:30 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church. All are welcome.

DECEMBER 1

HANGING OF THE GREENS, 7 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 12247 South Constitution Route, 5 miles south of Scottsville. The service will feature special music, historical narratives and seasonal hymns highlighting and celebrating the meaning of Christmas symbols and rituals. Desserts and beverages will be served in the fellowship hall after the service.

FARMVILLE JAYCEES CHRISTMAS PARADE, 2-3 p.m. hosted by Farmville Jaycees.

DECEMBER 3

LADIES ORNAMENT EXCHANGE, 7 p.m. hosted by The Women’s Ministry of Maysville Baptist Church in Buckingham Courthouse. Everyone is asked to bring a Christmas ornament to exchange.
