Dorothy Bryant Kost, 81

LYNCHBURG, April 9 – Dorothy Bryant Kost, 81, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fred Delaney Kost. Born September 5, 1931 in Prince Edward County, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Bryant and the late Lizzie Pearl Ragland Bryant.

She was a retired employee for the Odd Fellows Home and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Kost is survived by a son, Jimmy Wayne Whorley of Blackstone; three brothers, Frank Allen Bryant of Richmond, Joseph H. Bryant of Lynchburg and James G. Bryant and wife, Nancy of Bedford; sister, Barbara Ann Akers and husband, Jim of Richmond; four grandchildren, Whitney, Robert, Aimee and Amanda; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest W. Bryant, Alfred R. Bryant and John H. Bryant; two sisters, Rosa Virginia Lawarne and Alice Pearl Vanderpool; and a daughter-in-law, Audrey D. Whorley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Bryant Family Cemetery in Buckingham, with the Rev. Terry Tolliver officiating.

There will be no scheduled visitation hours but all are welcome to visit at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
