The burn ban for Buckingham County has been lifted.
A declaration ending local emergency from the Buckingham County Department of Emergency Management was released Oct. 25, putting an end to the county-wide burn ban previously issued on Oct. 15.
The ordinance was originally adopted due to the extremely dry weather conditions that Buckingham and surrounding counties have experienced. The release, signed by County Administrator Rebecca Carter, cited that the county has received significant precipitation since the local emergency declaration.
In addition, the release highlighted that the abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions seen in Buckingham County have since been alleviated and the potential for significant wildfires has returned to a normal level.
As a result of these circumstances, the burn ban has ended.
