April 4 – “Nature will calm your soul and clear your mind.”

Spaghetti anyone? The Prospect Vol. Fire Department's Annual Spaghetti Supper will be Saturday, April 6, from 5-7 p.m. The meal will include spaghetti, salad, bread, tea, lemonade and dessert. The cost is a donation. Carryout will be available. Everyone is welcomed!

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey and Mrs. Betty Shumaker were Easter Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shumaker and family in Lynchburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith hosted a family dinner on Easter Sunday. Guests were their daughter, Mrs. Emma Sharpe and son Jeffrey and their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and children Brianna, Charles and Christina. Also joining them was Mrs. Joyce Trinner, mother of Mrs. Charles Smith. After dinner the children had an Easter egg hunt, and then Jeffrey Sharpe spent Sunday night at the home of his Smith cousins.

On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Stafford to visit Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith. Accompanying the Smiths were four grandchildren; Jeffrey Sharpe, and Brianna, Charles and Christina Smith.

Mrs. Laurie Allen Justus of Damascus spent Monday and Tuesday nights with her mother, Mrs. Hilda McP. Allen.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton enjoyed Easter Sunday lunch with their son and his family; Lon, Mary Jo and Sean Stockton.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher had most of their children and grandchildren home for Easter Sunday lunch.

The “Special Blessing” mission group; Jeannette Tarlton, Judy Mottley, Shirley Mottley and Shirley Fulcher, traveled to Lynchburg on Thursday for supplies for their upcoming projects. They enjoyed lunch at the Hibachi Grill.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy No. 45 will hold their April 10 meeting at 2 p.m. in the red caboose near the Farmville Train Station.

It was good to see so many people at the Easter Sunday service at the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Flora Bolt, Garland Woodson and Chace Davis were Easter Sunday luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bolt and Stacy.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the visitation and funeral of her sister, Mrs. Jean Woodson Thompson Jayus of Williamsburg March 28. Following the funeral there was a reception held at the home of Jean's son, Jerry Thompson and wife Evon. Garland Woodson was also able to attend his sister's funeral. Others from the area attending their aunt's funeral were: Steve Bolt; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bolt; Mrs. Kyle Bolt and sons Joshua and Jacob; Wallace Woodson; Sandra Weldon, of Sanford, NC, and Virginia Fulmer, of Broadway, NC; Rev. and Mrs. Karl Hrebic of Orange; Jim Woodson of Ruckersville, and Gary Woodson of Standardsville. Jean's brother Rev. Robert Woodson of Culpepper could not attend because of health reasons but he send a letter to the family which his son in-law read at the funeral along with some scripture. The late Rev. Merrill Woodson's family because of distance could not be there in person but through prayer, cards and telephone calls they were there in spirit.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will bring the message on Sunday and will Holy Communion.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
