Robert H. Scarbrough Jr. announced his candidacy for Buckingham’s Board of Supervisors. He will be running for District 1, representing the New Canton and Georgia Creek residents.
If elected, Scarbrough wants to represent the needs of not only the residents of District 1, also the entire county. He stands for keeping the tax rate low and would like to see the growth of small businesses within the county. As in any small community, it is vital to provide job opportunities, not only to keep residents within the Buckingham community but also generate more revenue for Buckingham County.
Scarbrough was born in Norfolk and came to Buckingham County in 2009 to be closer to his new employment in the Charlottesville area. Scarbrough and his wife, Paulette chose Buckingham for the lower tax rate, as well as the small-town atmosphere. Coming from a city like Norfolk, he does not want to see his county turn into an area where retired people cannot afford to live.
Scarbrough genuinely believes that with the support and input from the residents of New Canton and Georgia Creek, together, they can make a better Buckingham.
