Elizabeth C. Carter, 91 Of Farmville Dies February 13

FEBRUARY 16 – Elizabeth Cralle Carter, 91, known as Dibby, died Saturday, February 13, 2010. She was the daughter of Robert B. and Eva W. Cralle and was the widow of Earl H. Carter.
She graduated from State Teacher's College, now Longwood University, in 1939, taught school at Green Bay High School and was a bookkeeper and teller at Planter's Bank and Trust Company in Farmville. She sang alto for many years in the Farmville Presbyterian Church Choir and performed with The Rotary Trio. In May of 1938, she was named “Miss Farmville”. She always enjoyed music and her crossword puzzles.
Ms. Carter is survived by a son, Earl H. Carter Jr. and wife, Beth; three grandchildren, Nat, Martha and Rachel; niece, Florence Bell Cupschalk of Norfolk; and two nephews, Herman Bell of England and Joe Bell of Norway.
A graveside service was held at Westview Cemetery on Tuesday.
