Arthur James Wagner, 77

HOWARDSVILLE, March 12 – Arthur James Wagner, 77, of Howardsville, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1936 in Germantown, Ohio, a son of the late Claude and Clara (Waites) Wagner.
Mr. Wagner retired from the U.S. Navy after over twenty years of service to his country. While in the Navy, he had served aboard various submarines. Upon retirement, he worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for thirty-six years as a technician. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed mowing his grass and spending time feeding his fish in his pond.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Elizabeth (Birt) Wagner of Howardsville; three children, Kimberly Stoeckel and husband, Richard and Mark Wagner, all of Wisconsin and Chris Wagner and wife, Jackie of Florida; brother, Henry Wagner of Maryland; sister, Beatrice Cornelius of Florida; three grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, and Raven Wagner; two great-granddaughters; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Adrian.
In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date, which will be announced.
