The Farmville Police Department has released the identity of the individual who was killed on Monday, July 22 as a result of a scooter accident at the intersection of North Virginia Street, and Second Street. Robert Joseph Murray, 24, of Farmville, was the operator of the 2019 Jiangsu moped.

According to police, a witness at the scene indicated Murray was traveling North on Virginia Street and failed to stop at the stop sign.

The driver operating a 2007 Chevrolet SUV, was traveling West on Second Street and collided with Murray.

Police have not released the name of the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet.

Murray was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
