Butterflies on the Battlefield Pollinator and Wildlife Festival

Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park will host the 2nd annual Butterflies on the Battlefield Pollinator and Wildlife Festival Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the visitor center. Join us to learn how you can do your part in preserving pollinators and wildlife for future generations while having fun.
The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation’s Next Generation Outreach unit will be on hand, where families can learn about wildlife through a hands-on program that uses tools such as life size taxidermy and more.
The Virginia Master Naturalists, The Department of Soil & Water Conservation, The Department of Forestry, a monarch expert and a local beekeepers will host educational booths presented in a large tented area behind the visitor center.
Self-guided nature walks around our wildflower field, nature crafts for children, a microscope viewing table, and a butterfly nursery will make for a great opportunity to get outdoors and learn more about nature. Volunteers will be on hand serving ice cream sundaes.
