The annual Kroger MDA Shamrock Campaign is nearing the end the end of the second week of the four-week campaign, and is off to a great start. By the end of this week the store has hopes of surpassing the $3,000 mark. Goal for this year's campaign is $5,500. The Farmville store has always been one of the top locations, which is a testament to the generosity and support our local community provides.

Last year a local resident, Colin Werth, was sent to camp with funds raised by the Kroger Company from the generous sup-port of the local community and Kroger associates. Colin is currently a senior at Prince Edward High School and will graduate this coming spring. Since Colin has turned 18 he is no longer eligible to attend the camp, but Kroger would like to send two to three local new campers this year. You can meet Colin at your local Kroger helping with some of the upcoming events to sup-port this campaign.

The campaign allows individuals to buy Shamrocks in denomination amounts and colors of $1-green, $5-silver, and $10-gold. The Shamrocks are displayed in the store.

“You will be amazed at the outstanding support that our local residents have already provided,” stated Store Manager Gary Taylor.

Upcoming events include a bake sale of donated items, a cookout of donated items, a raffle for gift baskets, and a raffle for basketball tickets. Please contact the local Kroger regarding these opportunities. The store will gladly entertain any additional opportunities to help support this outstanding cause. In addition, personal or business cash donations can be arranged through the local Kroger Manager, Gary Taylor, at 392-4446.

“Thanks to all Farmville and Prince Edward residents that have already donated, including our local college population, that have also been generous supporters,” the store manager concluded. “Please keep the donations coming for this once a year op-portunity to support MDA and send kids to camp!”
