In the year 2000, Millard Fuller, the co-founder of Habitat for Humanity, International, published a book entitled, “More Than Houses.” In the 24 years since Habitat’s inception, Fuller chronicled the changes in peoples’ lives since moving into a simple, decent house worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity in Buckingham County, part of Piedmont Habitat for Humanity, is completing house No 5. In a short period, four young adults living in these abodes have graduated from high school — two with associate college degrees. A grandson, who grew up in one of these houses, is completing a master’s degree from Liberty University. In addition, a mother recently selected for a Habitat house, is pursuing her GED.
A local story of “More Than Houses,” to add to Habitat’s 43-year venture!
