The July meeting of the Curdsville Community Center will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. Chicken will be provided, but bring a side dish or dessert. A program will be given by Cody Davis, manager of the safety and emergency program in Buckingham County. Also included will be the latest training for emergency situations relating to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Everyone is welcome. The community center is located at 122 School Road in Curdsville.
Support Virginia agriculture and win a new gator. The Virginia Association of Agriculture Extension Agents are giving away a new John Deere XUV 835M and five cash prizes of $500-$1,000. Come try out this great year-round karate program designed for ages four to adult. Learn discipline, self-defense, build confidence and character and become motivated. This program is held at the Buckingham Agriculture Building every Wednesday from 3:30- 5:30 p.m. The instructor is James Walker. The Buckingham County Youth Leagues will continue their state and World Series in the coming days. On July 19 the girls’ softball league will travel to Dinwiddie for the Angels, the Debs will travel to Rustburg and the Ponytails will host a home game.

The Welcome Campfire with special guest will be offered again on July 26 and Campfire with Native American Dancers on July 27. If you’re still trying to stay in shape during the summer, visit Central Virginia Community Health Center for weekly programming. On Mondays at 6 p.m., join them for yoga. On Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m., join the Weight Watchers meeting and at 6 p.m. come out for kickboxing. Wednesdays feature free use of the gym all day, and at 6 p.m. relax with yoga. Thursdays continue the fun with Tai Chi at 9:30 a.m. and Friday is pump and jump at noon. For more information call (434) 581-3271, extension 10601.
