Individuals driving or walking down North Main Street in Farmville might notice a structure built over the sidewalk at the old Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce office between the courthouse and Town Hall. The structure was put in place to ensure that no debris would fall on persons walking below while demolition takes place on the second floor. According to C&B and Jameson-Lewis Construction, the contractors for the project, the structure is perfectly safe and even provides some shade for when the sun is beaming down on you. The balcony allows the workers to walk out and sweep off debris into the dumpster below. The structure was set to be torn down June 27 as the project moves from demolition to renovation that will include new office spaces.
