First Vice Regent Dr. Nancy Vick introduced Dr. Mani Aguilar, clinical audiologist at the Speech, Hearing and Learning Services (SHLS) Center at Longwood University, during the April 6 meeting of the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, NSDAR. Dr. Aguilar spoke on the topic “Know About Your Hearing.”
The Longwood SHLS center provides services to all ages and provides financial assistance to those who cannot afford services. Dr. Aguilar shared that hearing problems are the third most common condition that can cause problems in living. She also reported that hearing loss can lead to earlier onset of dementia and that cognitive decline may not be as rapid if hearing aids are employed when needed. Dr. Aguilar encouraged members to take advantage of the services of the SHLS center. Pictured are Regent Melody Ramsey and Dr. Aguilar.
