Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Robertson Stables

Roberta “Bobbie” Robertson Stables, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2019. She was born on December 2, 1928 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia to Robert Jeffries and Lucille Clay Robertson. After graduating from Longwood College, she began her outstanding career

teaching elementary students. She married her high school sweetheart, David Clinton Stables, Jr. and enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage. Together they loved traveling, playing bridge, hosting family gatherings and being involved in numerous community organizations. However, her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her bright spirit, Southern hospitality, positive attitude and love of family, friends and students.

She was predeceased by her parents; her devoted husband, David; her sisters Doris Adkisson, Jane Brunger and Bertha Pitts. She is survived by her brother, Robert “ Bob” Robertson; her daughter, Robin (Emmett) McLane; her son, Clint (Merle) Stables; grandchildren Sarah (Tom) McIntosh; Katie (Charles ) Robertson; David (Meghan) Stables, Clint McLane and five precious great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at The Woodland and Centra Hospice, as well as her devoted companions Karen, Sally and Y’vonne.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Farmville United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14 at 4 p.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Paul Baker officiating.
