Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) and Greenwood Library host upcoming artist talk with Eldridge Bagley as a part of the NEA Big Read: Heart of Virginia. Join the LCVA and the Greenwood Library, Monday at 6 p.m. at the LCVA for discussion with Virginia folk artist Eldridge Bagley. Born in Richmond, Bagley was raised on a farm outside Kenbridge, and graduated from Kenbridge High School. He has 32 stunning pieces in the collection, some of which were graciously donated by Bagley himself. The collection includes original paintings and limited-edition prints. Bagley’s nostalgic and picturesque paintings capture his own experiences of growing up as a tobacco farmer in rural Southside Virginia. This talk will explore the evolution of his artistic practice in his own words. Refreshments will be served and this event is free and open to the public. There is no registration required.
