Delegate James Edmunds has announced his bid to seek re-election.
According to a press release Edmunds stated, “It has been my honor to serve you — one of the 80,000+ residents of the 60th District —in the Virginia House of Delegates. During my time in office, I have worked to lead with common sense lawmaking, fiscal responsibility and efficiency of government operations. I strive to make Southern Virginia a place where our children will want to come back home to work and raise their families. Since first elected in 2009, I have introduced and sponsored legislation that includes workforce and economic development, affordable and quality health care, quality education, protecting life and criminal justice reform. There is more work to be done and I remain committed to the values of Southern Virginia.”
The release went on to say, “James, a fourth-generation farmer, is married with two children and lives in Halifax County. He currently serves on three committees: Militia, Police and Public Safety; Health, Welfare and Institutions; and Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources. In addition, he is subcommittee chairman for Natural Resources of Agriculture. He is also co-chair of the Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.”
According to the release Edmunds also stated, “My service of the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission has allowed me to directly promote the economic growth and development in our tobacco-dependent communities.”
The 60th District represents Charlotte, Halifax and Prince Edward counties, as well as part of Campbell County.
