Storms, showers on radar for weekend

Thunderstorms and showers are on the forecast for Easter weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield and Blacksburg.
A chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for Friday, with Cumberland estimated to see inclement weather after 8 a.m. and Buckingham and Farmville after 12 p.m. South wind is projected to be between 11-15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 22-24 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, according to the NWS.
Showers and a possible thunderstorm is forecast for Friday night, with winds estimated between 8-11 miles per hour and chance of precipitation at 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Chances of showers and thunderstorms could continue into Saturday after 2 p.m. South wind is estimated to be between 9-14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms, according to NWS.
Rain could continue into Saturday night, with chance of precipitation at 30 percent and new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Easter Sunday is set to have milder weather. The NWS cites that the Heart of Virginia would see mostly sunny conditions in the upper 60s.
