Fuqua School’s varsity baseball team lost 7-6 to host Collegiate School on Wednesday on a walk-off single after trailing 6-2 after the second inning. Despite the loss, Falcons Head Coach Taylor Myers was quite pleased with his team’s performance and the statement it made. “It was a total team effort,” he said. “Each and every one of the boys stepped up when their number was called. I am extremely proud of the way they never gave up despite being down and how they clawed and fought back to get back into it. Defensively, Matt Osborn (pictured above) came in to pitch relief and pitched a heck of a game, Cody Fulford made a web-gem diving catch in right field to get out of an inning for us, Elijah Warner stepped up defensively playing first base today for the first time ever, and Colton Copley played a heck of a game, both defensively and offensively, by driving in two runs when we really needed them. Everyone came up with clutch at-bats, so all in all I am very proud of the way they played despite the result and score. They showed that they’ve got what it takes to compete with anyone, any day, anytime.”
