In anticipation of Easter Sunday on April 20, organizations around the Heart of Virginia will host a variety of Easter egg hunts for children and families in order for people young and old to make the most of the holiday. See events below:

The Randolph District Fire Department and Auxiliary will celebrate the Easter holiday complete with the Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunts and breakfast food Saturday morning. The Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event is set to be located at the firehouse, 2145 Cumberland Road from 8:30-10:30 a.m. There are three Easter egg hunts scheduled, with the first hunt being for toddler to 3 years of age, the second hunt for ages four to eight and the last hunt for ages nine-12. Children are encouraged to bring their own Easter baskets. Participants can bring donations at the door to support the fire department.

Enon Baptist Church in Buckingham County will host a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday at noon. The Easter egg hunt, featuring a lunch of hot dogs, will be located at Ellis Acres Memorial Park, 245 Camden St. in Dillwyn.

The Barn at Timber Creek, located at 25 Holman Mill Road, is holding its free third annual Easter Celebration event Saturday with Easter egg hunts and crafts. Children and families will also have the opportunity to pose for photos with a real bunny. The Easter egg hunt will begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and photos and crafts will take place until 3 p.m.

Central Virginia Regional Library is hosting a teen glow in the dark Easter egg hunt Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library, 1303 W. Third St. Teens ages 13-18 can participate in an egg hunt throughout the library and enjoy snacks.

Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church, at 1313 Cartersville Road, is set to hold an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The Farmville Recreation Department postponed its Easter egg hunt to Saturday, April 20, at The Firemen’s Sports Arena, 1328 Zion Hill Road in Prince Edward. The gates will open at 10:30 a.m., but the event will begin at 11 a.m. and last until noon. The hunt, for children ages 12 and under, will include 10,000 Easter eggs that will be scattered through the arena’s softball field, candy, prizes and a chance to pose for photos with the Easter Bunny. Recreation Director Chris Bolt said among the 10,000 eggs will be what are called prize eggs. Inside the prize eggs will be messages that list a prize the child won.
