Rezoning approved for duplexes

The Farmville Town Council voted to approve rezoning at parcels in two separate locations to build duplexes.
The first rezoning applicant, Mike Papandrea, requested to rezone property located at 1017 N. Main St. from Business District 3, (B-3) to Residential District 2 (R-2) as Papandrea is interested in building a duplex at that site. The second applicant, Locket Creek Real Estate Group, LLC, requested to rezone four properties located at 1306 Longwood Ave., an undeveloped parcel that’s proposed to be 1308 Longwood Ave., 1310 Longwood Ave. and 1312 Longwood Ave. from B-3 to R-2.
Assistant Town Manager C. Scott Davis said in a previous Herald report that three of the lots on Longwood Avenue already contain duplexes. He said the duplexes were not correctly zoned and that this request would place them in compliance.
All council members voted to approve the rezoning except for Ward E. Council member J.J. “Jamie” Davis, who abstained due to what he described as a conflict of interest for both projects.
