New planning administrator sought

Buckingham County is seeking an Administrator of Zoning and Economic/Community Planning and confirmed that Rebecca Cobb, the prior zoning administration, no longer works for the county.
County Administrator Rebecca Carter confirmed Monday that Cobb is no longer employed with the county.
While Carter said she could not comment on the reason for Cobb no longer working for the county, she said the potential conflict was not a factor.
On Nov. 30, Cobb told county administration that her husband accepted a job position with the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP), creating a potential conflict of interest as the county was examining the request by ACP for variance to the county’s floodplain.
Carter said she started taking over the floodplain request after Cobb notified the county of her husband’s employment.
Carter said a description of the job is on the county website and will run in news publications over the next several weeks.
According to the job description for the Administrator of Zoning and Economic/Community Planning position, found on the county website, the administrator would “encompass the preparation of staff recommendations, reports, and presentations on zoning applications to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and/or Board of Zoning Appeals and will develop, maintain, and administer a comprehensive economic planning program.”
The application deadline is 4 p.m. April 1. The position is full-time. To learn more or receive an application, visit http://www.buckinghamcountyva.org.
