PECMS Holds Hoops Event

Prince Edward County Middle School students Jamaica Woodford, Aanyhil Marshall, and Summer Smith sort canned goods collected at the school's second annual Charity Hoops event. As part of the Eagle Watch mentoring program, PECMS students first met with their adult mentors and discussed how to be “helping hands” at home, at school, and in the community. The students were then invited to participate in the Charity Hoops event. By paying the admission fee of one canned good and a card indicating completion of one volunteer activity, students were able to cheer for their favorite team as the PECMS girls' and boys' basketball teams competed against the faculty/staff all-star team. All teams played their best, and in the spirit of the season, the scoreboard at the end of each game indicated a tie. The canned goods were donated to FACES.
