Snow, ice on forecast Tuesday night into Wednesday

Prince Edward and Cumberland counties are under a winter weather advisory, Buckingham under a winter storm warning for sleet and snow that could cause issues with travel Tuesday night into Wednesday.

According to The National Weather Service in Wakefield, a winter weather advisory for Prince Edward and Cumberland counties is in effect from midnight until Wednesday late afternoon into early evening.

Total snow accumulation of between 1-2 inches and ice accumulation of up to one tenth of an inch is being forecast for Cumberland and Prince Edward.

Buckingham and counties such as Appomattox and Campbell, according to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, could see potential total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts across the Alleghanys and Blue Ridge. Ice accumulations of one tenth to three tenths of an inch is also forecast for the coverage area.

The winter storm warning is in effect for Buckingham until midnight Wednesday.
