A man died at the scene of a vehicle accident that took place Saturday in Buckingham County.

The accident occurred Saturday morning on Route 15, north of Route 617, Virginia State Police reported.

Frederick Young, 56, of Dillwyn, a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.

According to Virginia State Police, a 1996 Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Route 15 when it crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the highway, spun around and struck a tree on the passenger side.

The driver, Cynthia W. Williams, 49, of Buckingham, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Neither Williams nor Young were reported to have worn seat belts.

Police said the accident is under investigation and charges are pending.
