Cainan Townsend, Farmville District school board member, announced Feb. 13 that he resigned his seat on the Prince Edward County Public Schools (PECPS) school board.
Townsend said in a statement that personal reasons were the primary factor in his decision.
“There are some personal issues that I am dealing with being the reason for resignation,” Townsend said in the statement.
He said he did not have issues with anyone at the school division. Townsend expressed confidence in PECPS’ future and its action moving forward.
“I have no issue with anyone involved with the division at all,” Townsend said. “I will miss the position greatly and hope to be able to serve again in the future. Great things will continue at PECPS.”
Dr. Barbara Johnson, superintendent of PECPS, said in a statement that Townsend’s service to the school division is appreciated.
“We are grateful for Mr. Townsend’s contributions to the Prince Edward County School Board,” Johnson said. “He will be missed.”
