An incident at Buckingham Correctional Center is under investigation after officials reported that a visitor hid drugs in her genitalia.

The incident, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC), occurred at the correctional center Feb. 2.

The alert cited that the visitor was escorted from the premises after the discovery.

Gregory Carter, community relations coordinator with VADOC, said the contents were confiscated and sent to the state forensics lab for testing.

“It could be some time before we receive a final confirmation identifying the substances,” Carter said. He said the contents could not be identified.

He said the individual was not arrested.
