The Eagles did a good job of neutralizing Fuqua center Boris Ngundji, who was held to just two points at the half. FS point guard Antonio Gonzalez was held to only three points.
Both came on with strong second halves. Ngundji scored six third quarter points, while Davis Cyrus and Gonzalez buried three-point shots, but PE was able to match the Falcons with 17 points in the third. Banks scored six points, while Vilantae Eanes added a three-pointer to help the Eagles maintain a double-digit lead.
With the Eagles leading 49-37 at the end of the third, Banks helped PE keep the Falcons at arm's length in the fourth with nine of his 22 points coming in the final period.
Fuqua's Vasaun Boatwright scored eight of his ten points in the fourth quarter. The sophomore scored on two three-point shots. Gonzalez, who finished with a team-high 14 points scored seven in the final eight minutes.
In addition to Banks' 22 points, Vaughan scored 16 and Eanes added 10. Cleon Watkins scored eight for the Eagles. Prince Edward shot 13-19 (68 percent) from the foul line.

The two teams will meet again in the home-and-home series on Saturday night at Gilmer Gymnasium. However, both will have some tough games before then.
Fuqua will host Amelia Academy on Friday night in a game that will have definite ramifications on the Virginia Commonwealth Conference regular-season championship race. Prince Edward was scheduled to travel to Park View on Tuesday, to play a team that eased to a 75-48 win in the finals of the Call Me Mister Tournament back in December. The Eagles will not face an opponent on Friday night.
BCHS 75, Cumberland 33
The Buckingham County High School boys basketball team used a strong first quarter to turn the Battle of Route 60 into a rout on Thursday night in Buckingham.

Senior Cam Johnson, who scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the first quarter, helped the Knights get off to a 24-2 lead after the first quarter of play.
Buckingham's pace didn't slow in the second quarter, as eight different Knights scored in the second session. All but one of the 14 players on the BCHS roster scored. Joining Johnson in double figures was Dre Scott, who had 10. Timmy Randolph and Harold Stanton each scored nine points, while Tariq Bartee added seven.
