Margaret Slayton Banko, 88

JANUARY 8 – Margaret Slayton Banko, 88, of Farmville, formerly of Meherrin passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013. She was born October 21, 1924 to the late Henry and Virgie Claybrook of Brookneal.

She was a member of Appomattox (PE) Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir, was a well-known floral designer, a talented artist who enjoyed sharing her paintings with others. She was a member of Central Virginia Arts.

Mrs. Banko is survived by her present husband, Frank J. Banko, whom she married in 1995; two daughters, Jeanette Slayton Johnston (Kin) of Farmville and Rebecca Slayton Roth of Stamford, CT; sister, Peggy Claybrook of Brookneal; two grandchildren, Margaret McKinnon Johnstone of Lake Anna and John Slayton Johnstone of Farmville. In 1989, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude H. Slayton, brother, Carl Claybrook and sister, Frances Claybrook Tuggle.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 7 at the Appomattox (PE) Presbyterian Church with interment in Westview Cemetery.
