Snow, strong winds on forecast

Fuqua School reported that all after-school activities have been canceled for the day due to anticipated inclement weather.
Prince Edward County Public Schools announced that all after-school activities would be canceled Tuesday due to anticipated inclement weather.
The Heart of Virginia is expected to receive a bit of snow, extreme cold and strong wind gusts Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield and Blacksburg estimate that the area could receive rain that is expected to turn into snow Tuesday afternoon and evening.
A total of a less than an inch of snow is expected for Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.
A hazardous weather alert from NWS cited that freezing is possible as temperatures are expected to dip in the 20s and teens overnight.
On Wednesday, the NWS is citing that strong wind gusts to 40 miles per hour will be possible Wednesday afternoon and
early evening “as an arctic front crosses the area.”
Very cold air is then expected to arrive Wednesday night through Thursday night. Estimations from the NWS cited that Thursday morning could see temperature ranges from 5 to 15 degrees above zero, with wind chills potentially as low as zero.
