Something exciting is going to happen in 2019. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a three day, two night trip to Lancaster Pennsylvania Tuesday, April 2, through Thursday, April 4. The trip includes round trip motorcoach transportation, two nights lodging, two deluxe continental breakfasts, two dinners, a two-hour farmland tour, time for shopping and the show “Jesus” at the Sight and Sound Theater. Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Court Room.

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Junior Trent of Cumberland on Friday, Jan. 18, Dottie Roosevelt of Cumberland and Roy Knighton of New Canton both on Sunday, Jan. 20, Jan Crawley and John Trammell both of Farmville and Martha Miles of Richmond all on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Visiting in the home of Annie May Miles of Dillwyn on Saturday evening Jan. 12 were Josh and Cheyenne Gentry of Cumberland.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be entering their 31st year as a group. All members and prospective members are asked to come out and join us for our first meeting and lunch that has been rescheduled to Saturday, at noon at Welcome Wesleyan Church located on U.S. Route 15 North, 26565 James Madison Hwy., Dillwyn. All members are asked to bring a covered dish for the meal, following will be the January program. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc., a nonprofit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding counties in helping people in their hour of need, will be hosting its annual Valentine’s Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dillwyn. Dinner to include roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage all for a donation. You may eat in or take out. Dinner music will be provided by Cody Moss. Our sympathy is extended to the Smith Family of Farmville. James R. (J.R.) Smith went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 10. He will be greatly missed by all.
