Reverend Louis Albert Liotta, born February 13, 1940, sang his way passed the pearly gates on January 9, 2019. “Pastor Lou,” aka “Papa Lou,” lived a full and colorful life. He loved deeply, worked hard, and
spread laughter around like a spiritual gift. He grew up in New Jersey, the son of Eugene and Rose. He served his country, intercepting messages in Japan for the Air Force in the 50’s, and then sang and acted his way around New York and aboard cruise ships in the 60’s. He sort of “settled down” to raise his family, continuing in performing arts, but also owning and operating a construction business. Papa Lou gave his life to Jesus in the early 90’s, and never looked back. He played softball and Santa Claus, preached sermons and sang in bands. He bellowed and built and blessed his way into his seventies and leaves a legacy of joy and faith for all who’ve known him. He joins parents, aunts, uncles, good friends, a son, and his beloved Funny Valentine, Arleen, who beat him to the Throne in 2016.
A host of folks will miss him dearly, as He is survived by sisters, Ann (Carl), Betty, and Rosanne (John), brother Gene (Cathy), daughters Nanette (Jim) and Janine (James), sons Christopher (Alex), Anthony (Marie), and Brian (Sherry), and a gang of awesome grandkids: Benjamin (Cait), Elijah (Alaina), Hannah, Mackenzie, Kit, Jewels, Eli, Cannon, Raia, Kaitlyn, Madeline, McKenna, Hannah, Bethany, Rebecca, and Gavin.
A celebration of Papa Lou’s life will be held on February 2 at 2 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly, 307 NC-100, Gibsonville, NC. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests donations to The River Fellowship at 2966 South Church St., Suite 189, Burlington, NC 27215, so that the good news of Jesus can keep going forth with love and power!
