Del. Wright appointed to chair house committee

Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox has announced that Delegate Tommy Wright will serve as Chair of the House Militia, Police and Public Safety Committee.

“Tommy is a fair and experienced leader who understands the critical public safety issues facing our Commonwealth,” said Speaker Cox. “He has always distinguished himself as a vital member of our caucus and the Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee. As Vice-Chair Tommy has worked to strengthen the Commonwealth by considering and passing sound public policy. I have no doubt he will treat every issue with the respect it deserves. Tommy’s immense experience and strong work ethic will prove to be an invaluable asset to this essential committee.”

Delegate Wright has served in the House of Delegates since 2001. He represents the 61st district, located in the counties of Amelia, Cumberland, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, and parts of Lunenburg. In addition to previously serving as Vice Chair of the House Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee, he serves on the General Laws Committee and Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee.
